1. Introduction
This Cookie Policy explains how AppTego (“we”, “us”, or “our”) uses cookies and similar tracking technologies when you visit our website. It describes what these technologies are, why we use them, your rights to control them, and the specific cookies we set.
This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect and process personal data more broadly.
2. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work or work more efficiently, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to the owners of the site. Cookies may be set by the website you are visiting (“first-party cookies”) or by third parties whose services appear on the page (“third-party cookies”).
3. Legal basis for using cookies
We rely on the following legal bases for placing cookies on your device, as required by the GDPR (Article 6), the ePrivacy Directive (Article 5(3)), and the CCPA/CPRA:
- Strictly necessary cookies (Essential): These do not require your consent under the GDPR or ePrivacy Directive because they are essential for the website to function. They are set automatically when you visit the site.
- Optional cookies: These are placed only after you have given your explicit, informed, freely-given, and unambiguous consent via the cookie consent banner displayed on your first visit. Under the GDPR, our legal basis for these cookies is your consent (Article 6(1)(a)). Under the CCPA/CPRA, these relate to the collection of personal information as described in Section 10 below.
4. Cookie categories
We classify cookies on our website into two categories:
Essential cookies
These cookies are strictly necessary for the website to function and cannot be switched off. They are usually set in response to actions made by you, such as setting your cookie consent preferences. Without these cookies, the website cannot operate properly.
Optional cookies
These cookies are used for form spam protection via Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise (see Section 6). They are only activated after you have given your explicit consent through the cookie consent banner. You can withdraw this consent at any time.
5. Cookies we use
The following table lists the primary cookies associated with our website. When optional cookies are enabled, Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise may set additional cookies (such as NID, SOCS, AEC, __Secure-ENID, and others) that are managed by Google and are subject to change. For a full list of cookies Google may use, see the Google cookies policy.
| Cookie name | Provider | Purpose | Expiry | Category |
|---|---|---|---|---|
apptego_consent |
AppTego (1st party) | Stores your cookie consent preferences (essential and optional choices). | 1 year | Essential |
_GRECAPTCHA |
Google (3rd party) | Set by Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise to provide its risk analysis and distinguish human visitors from automated bots. | 6 months | Optional |
We do not use analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or social-media tracking cookies on this website. Any additional cookies set by Google reCAPTCHA are used solely for security and anti-fraud purposes and are only present when you have consented to optional cookies.
6. Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise
We use Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise to protect our contact and bug-report forms from spam and automated abuse. reCAPTCHA works by collecting hardware and software information (such as device and application data) and sending it to Google for analysis.
The reCAPTCHA script is only loaded after you have given your explicit consent to optional cookies. If you decline optional cookies, reCAPTCHA is not activated and the associated forms will remain disabled.
When you withdraw your consent, we remove the reCAPTCHA script and delete its cookies from your browser to the extent technically possible.
By using reCAPTCHA, data may be transmitted to and processed by Google LLC (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA). Google’s use of the data collected through reCAPTCHA is governed by:
This site is protected by reCAPTCHA Enterprise and the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.
7. International data transfers
When reCAPTCHA is activated with your consent, personal data (such as your IP address and device information) may be transferred to Google servers in the United States. Google LLC participates in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and relies on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) as approved by the European Commission for lawful data transfers outside the European Economic Area. For more information, see Google’s data transfer frameworks.
8. Managing your preferences
Cookie consent banner
When you first visit our website, a cookie consent banner is displayed. You can choose to:
- Accept All — enables both essential and optional cookies.
- Essential Only — enables only strictly necessary cookies; no optional cookies are set.
You can change your preferences at any time by clicking the Cookie Preferences link in the footer of any page. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it: simply re-open the banner and select “Essential Only.” When you withdraw consent for optional cookies, we will remove the reCAPTCHA script and delete its cookies from your browser.
Browser settings
You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to view, manage, and delete cookies. Please note that if you block all cookies (including essential ones), some parts of our website may not function correctly. For instructions, see your browser’s help documentation:
9. Your rights under the GDPR
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the following rights with respect to cookies and the personal data they process:
- Right to withdraw consent (Article 7(3)): You may withdraw your consent to optional cookies at any time via the Cookie Preferences link. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before withdrawal.
- Right of access (Article 15): You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to erasure (Article 17): You may request deletion of your personal data.
- Right to restriction (Article 18): You may request that we restrict processing of your data.
- Right to data portability (Article 20): You may request a machine-readable copy of data processed based on consent.
- Right to object (Article 21): You may object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Right to lodge a complaint: You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in your country of residence.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at legal@apptego.com.
10. Your rights under the CCPA / CPRA (California residents)
If you are a California resident, the CCPA and CPRA provide you with additional rights regarding your personal information:
- Right to know: You have the right to know what personal information we collect, the sources, the business purpose, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it.
- Right to delete: You may request that we delete your personal information, subject to certain exceptions.
- Right to correct: You may request correction of inaccurate personal information.
- Right to opt out of sale or sharing: We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. Because reCAPTCHA data is processed solely for security and anti-fraud purposes (a permitted “business purpose” under the CCPA), it does not constitute a “sale” or “sharing” under California law.
- Right to non-discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA/CPRA rights.
- Right to limit use of sensitive personal information: We do not collect sensitive personal information as defined by the CPRA through cookies on this website.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at legal@apptego.com. We will verify your identity before processing your request.
11. Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information
We do not sell or share (as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA) the personal information of our website visitors. If you prefer to opt out of optional data collection entirely, you may do so by selecting “Essential Only” on our cookie consent banner, or by contacting us at legal@apptego.com.
12. Children’s privacy
Our website is not directed at children under the age of 16 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through cookies or any other means.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, regulation, or our business practices. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date below and, where required by applicable law, notify you or seek fresh consent.
